Foreign Exchange purchases include cash, drafts and International Money Transfers using real-time Foreign Exchange Rates.  All types of Foreign Exchange can be purchased via three channels:

1. Online through NetDirect
2. Over the phone on 0800 500 400
3. At any ASB Branch

The funds required for the Foreign Exchange purchase will be deducted from your nominated BankDirect account at the time of the transaction.

Collection of Foreign Exchange Purchases

Foreign Exchange purchases (excluding International Money Transfers) are available to be collected from your nominated ASB branch 2 working days after the order has been placed and must be collected 5 working days after that date.

Notes on International Money Transfers

BankDirect will process the transfer of funds to the overseas bank no later than 2 business days from the time your order is received.  Payment of funds to the beneficiary is the responsibility of the overseas bank and the timing of the payment is therefore beyond BankDirect's control. 

This payment will be subject to fees and charges imposed by overseas banks involved in the transaction.  These will be deducted from the foreign payment and in such cases the beneficiary will receive a lower amount.
